Bitter Christmas centres on Elsa, a successful advertising director whose mother’s death coincides with the long December holidays. Immersing herself in work, she avoids confronting her grief until an emotional breaking point compels her to leave Madrid behind. Seeking distance and perspective, she travels to Lanzarote with her close friend Patricia, who is also in need of an escape.
Running alongside their journey is the story of a screenwriter and a film director, creating a layered narrative that blurs the boundaries between lived experience and storytelling, revealing the intimate and often painful ways in which life and fiction reflect one another.
Paco Delgado will join Fashion & Cinema’s Joana Granero on-stage after the screening to talk about his work creating the costumes for the film.
